Kroeger was a seldom seen member of the navigation staff of the Galaxy Class USS Republic (NCC-76241), as his graveyard-hour duty shift had him asleep in his quarters while the rest of the ship was awake. He spent his time aboard the Republic in quiet solitude, rarely seeking social company with the exception of the small late-night bridge crew. His closest friend was Ensign [[Mahlenoy]], the Medusan navigator who he communicated with only through his helm console. Although a lieutenant, Kroeger had no desire whatsoever to be in a leadership position while on Republic, and was comfortable with the thought that he might retire at his current rank. When dealing with the rest of the crew, Haydon was a professional and obedient subordinate.  After the Remnant Attacks of stardate 58851, Hayden was reassigned elsewhere in Starfleet.
